Personal logbook for recording voyages.

The Ship's Log website immediately draws visitors onboard with authentic photos, route maps, and detailed log entries. Using the modular CanvasKit package, we have created an easy-to-copy and inspiring online logbook that motivates other sailors to share their own stories from the sea.

Reason

Josef Křenek, co-owner of TwoDo and a passionate sailor, approached us with the goal of creating a modern digital diary for recording his voyages. He wanted a website that would combine the functions of a voyage overview, a logbook, a map, and a nice gallery of photos from the voyages. The website was also to serve as a template for other sailors to copy.

Challenge

The main task was to create a website using only the CanvasKit component package, which meant:

  • Building the website structure entirely from pre-made components without writing new code, thereby minimizing the cost of website creation.
  • Maintaining a minimalist design that does not distract from the content, but at the same time looks professional.
  • Ensuring easy replication of the website for other users.

Another challenge was integrating specific elements, such as route maps or dials with marine statistics, into a universal component system.

Solution

The key was to create a website that would immediately transport the visitor to the ship. We focused on three main pillars: authenticity, atmosphere and story.

  1. Authentic photos: The website opens with a large-format photo of the captain in action with the title "My logbook" and a short description. Such a combination is intended to immediately raise questions: Where did he sail? What did he experience? and draw the visitor into the story.
  2. Immediate transmission of the atmosphere: Below the introductory photo, a short summary follows, which introduces the overall concept of the logbook to visitors. At the same time, nautical statistics are presented here - such as the number of miles sailed or voyages made - which give the page a unique touch and tangible value.
  3. Detailed overview of individual voyages: Each voyage is presented in a separate post, where visitors will find a map of the voyage, a detailed description of each day and a photo gallery that underlines the personal character and atmosphere of each voyage.

Result

Overall, The Ship's Log is not only a personal digital record of nautical routes, but also an inspiring solution that brings authenticity, simplicity and technological innovation to the world of online logbooks. The resulting website is not just a collection of data - it is an emotional journey that brings visitors closer to the beauty and power of the sea, while motivating other sailors to share their own experiences.
